FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What contrast ratio should I aim for?
For most websites, WCAG AA (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text) is the standard. AAA is ideal but not always practical for design. We recommend AA as the minimum.
Is color contrast legally required?
In many jurisdictions, yes. The EU European Accessibility Act, UK Equality Act, and US ADA all reference WCAG standards. Failing to meet these can result in legal liability.
My brand colors fail contrast. What do I do?
Darken light colors or lighten dark colors slightly. Often a small adjustment (1-2 shades) is enough to pass while maintaining brand identity. Our team can help โ€” book a free consultation.
Does this check cover all accessibility needs?
Color contrast is one aspect of accessibility. Full WCAG compliance also covers keyboard navigation, screen reader support, alt text, form labels, and more. Consider a full accessibility audit.
