General settings reference

The General tab in DocuMerge Settings โ€” defaults for output format, delivery, and form mode.

Settings at DocuMerge โ†’ Settings โ†’ General control plugin-wide defaults. Every form can override these individually.

Document defaults

  • Default output format โ€” PDF, DOCX, or both. Applied to new templates unless overridden per-template.
  • Default delivery methods โ€” Browser download is always available. Email and media library are Pro.
  • Download link expiry โ€” how long submitter-facing download links stay valid. Default: 72 hours. Set to 0 to never expire (not recommended for privacy).

Form mode

  • Standalone โ€” Lite uses its own built-in form builder (default).
  • Integrated โ€” Lite listens for submissions from WPForms, Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms, or Fluent Forms. This option is visible but disabled in Lite โ€” integration is a Pro feature.

Admin notifications

  • Notify admin on new submission โ€” sends an email to the admin address with submission details.
  • Notify on error โ€” sends an email when document generation fails.
  • Notification email โ€” defaults to the site admin email; override with another address if you want notifications to go elsewhere.

Date/time formats

  • Date format โ€” used by {current_date} and date-type fields. Default follows the site’s WordPress setting.
  • Time format โ€” used by {current_time}. Default follows the site’s WordPress setting.
